About

Psychosomatic Interventions in Therapy: Mind–Body Approaches for Children, Adolescents, and Adults 📅 Date: Thursday, January 26th 🕓 Time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EST 📍 Location: Virtual 🎤 Facilitator: Stacy Blankenship, LCSW This engaging and clinically grounded presentation explores psychosomatic interventions as integrative, mind–body approaches that support healing across the lifespan. Participants will deepen their understanding of how thoughts, emotions, nervous system functioning, and physical symptoms are interconnected, and how these relationships show up in therapeutic work with children, adolescents, and adults. Through discussion and concrete examples, participants will gain tools to help clients improve regulation, build embodied awareness, and safely engage the body as a resource for healing. Learning Objectives By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: Define psychosomatic and somatic-based interventions and explain the core assumptions underlying mind–body therapeutic approaches. Describe common psychosomatic symptoms and their clinical implications, including the role of chronic stress, trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. Identify key mechanisms of change such as interoception, neuroplasticity, vagal regulation, and bottom-up/top-down processing. Apply developmentally appropriate psychosomatic techniques for children, adolescents, and adults, including grounding, movement, breathwork, and sensory-based strategies. Demonstrate at least one way to integrate psychosomatic interventions into existing treatment models while maintaining client autonomy and emotional safety. Recognize contraindications and ethical considerations, including pacing, consent, and cultural responsiveness, when using mind–body interventions in therapy. 🎓 2 Credit Hours | ACEP Number: 7925 💻 Online format
